One of winter's biggest hassles is the accumulation of precipitation on parked vehicles. Before you can get in and drive away, you must clear off the snow, pull up the wind shield wipers, and chip away at the ice. Thankfully, Ford has provided a solution to this headache with the introduction of a new Cold Weather Package for the 2017 Escape.

Standard equipment on Titanium models, and available as an option on SE models, the new Cold Weather Package features a windshield wiper de-icer that can clear light snow in ice in less than ten minutes, even in temperatures as low as -18 Fahrenheit.

“The windshield wiper de-icer is a great solution to one of the more nagging problems of winter,” said Jennifer Gauthier, Ford fixed glass engineer. “Escape drivers in the U.S. are going to wonder how they ever got along without it.”

Furthermore, SYNC-equipped vehicles allow the driver to get a head start by accessing the system from their smartphone. Other Cold Weather Package features include all-weather floor mats, heated side mirrors, heated seats, and powertrain conditioning heater.

Already a standard feature on Escape models sold in Canada, the windshield wiper de-icer will soon migrate to other vehicles in the Ford lineup in the United States.
